This course provides participants with the requisite analysis and design skills – as business and/or systems analysts – by equipping them with innovative problem-solving tools and techniques in order to identify, understand, and correctly respond to imminent business challenges. Participants will gain a better knowledge of the basic concepts of systems development lifecycle methodologies, including the V model and modeling techniques, that are applied to the structured analysis. Participants will also gain invaluable insights into applications of object-orientated analysis (UML modeling), such as data flow diagrams, use cases, entity-relationship diagrams, and class models.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course the participants will be able to:

• Understand the basic concepts of IS development lifecycles and methodologies

• Apply structured analysis modeling techniques to draw functional Decomposition, context, and data flow diagrams

• Draw UML models such as use cases and class diagrams, and

• Draw data models such as entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs).
