INTRODUCTION: Supply Chain Management can be described in many ways. However, the import of the scheme can be described as the management of network of interconnected activities in a business in the ultimate provision of services required to ensure effective INPUT and OUPUT operations in the organization.
The essence and importance of Supply Chain Management is summed up in the fact that changes in business environment have contributed to the development of supply chain networks. Also, technological changes, particularly the dramatic fall in information communication costs, which are a significant component of transaction costs, have led to changes in co-ordination among the members of the supply chain network

Successful SCM requires a change from managing individual functions to integrating activities into key supply chain processes.
