PMI-RMP stands for Project Management Institute-Risk Management Professional. It’s a globally recognized certification offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI). The PMI-RMP certification validates the individual’s ability to identify and assess project risks, mitigate threats, and capitalize on opportunities.
To earn the PMI-RMP certification, candidates must meet certain educational and professional experience requirements. This includes:
- A secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree, or the global equivalent)
- 4,500 hours of project risk management experience
- 40 hours of project risk management education
OR
- A four-year degree (bachelor’s degree or the global equivalent)
- 3,000 hours of project risk management experience
- 30 hours of project risk management education
Candidates must also pass the PMI-RMP examination, which covers the domains of risk strategy and planning, stakeholder engagement, risk process facilitation, and risk monitoring and reporting.
After earning the PMI-RMP certification, it must be maintained through earning professional development units (PDUs).
