Program overview:

Construction management is a professional discipline applied to construction planning, design, and process. Professional construction managers (CMs) address the needs of owners by providing management services and expertise tailored to the project, independent of the chosen contract format or project delivery method. CMs apply comprehensive project controls to help manage the critical issues of time, cost, scope, quality, and safety. They can help improve worker safety by integrating safety and health into all aspects of the construction process, from the design phase to jobsite management.

 

For the successful delivery of projects, Professional construction managers (CMs) have to understand the managerial skills, in addition to their technical knowledge, that they need to have. Job sites safety have to be managed with the same degree of expertise and to the same standards as other core business activities because of the high cost of failure. 

This course will feature the importance and relevance of efficient and practical strategies necessary to achieve competency for professionals involved in construction management.

 

Learning objectives

At the end of the program, participants will be able to;

  •          assess and control work methods, resources and systems to meet works requirements;

Engr. Akinbanjo Ogun – HND Mech., PGD. Safety Education, University of Ibadan. Member Nigeria Society of Engineers, IOSH Certified. A seasoned professional facilitator in the areas of facilities maintenance and management, construction site, environmental and industrial safety and industrial production expert. Engineer Banjo Ogun has worked as a site and safety engineer in Nigeria railway cooperation, Vita Construction Company limited etc. for over a decade. He had supervised buildings, bridge and roads construction, and other lots of project awarded by the federal government of Nigeria in various states. Engr. Ogun has equally worked as Safety Advisor, QC Analyst and Production Manager in different industries in both Public and Private Organizations. Engr. Ogun has lectured and facilitated at a number of training workshops in the areas of Occupational Health Hazards & Bio-mechanical Work Processes, Ergonomics Hazards / Assessment & Work Safety Regulations / Procedures.


Oladapo Samuel Olabode – B.Tech (Hons), Civil Engineering, M.Sc., Civil & Environmental Engineering (Structures option), Member, the Nigerian Society of Engineers (44195), Registered Engineer, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN Reg. No. R39363), Member, Nigerian Institute of Management and member, American Society of Civil Engineers.

Engr. Olabode is a Senior Civil Engineer, University of Lagos till date with key responsibilities in the areas of: Planning and design of academic and administrative buildings, Undertake environmental feasibility studies and environmental impact assessment, Construction supervision and quality control, Reviewing designs undertaken by external consultants, Liaise as department’s capital project desk officer with the budget and planning unit of the University, Federal Ministry of Education and Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Planning, Scheduling and Execution of Maintenance of buildings, sport facilities, water treatment and distribution facility, sewage and wastewater treatment facility andHe will share his experiences with participants on this programme.
