Workshop on Advanced Offensive and Defensive Driving Course for Drivers

Program overview:

Defensive driving is driving to save lives, time and money in spite of the conditions around the driver and the actions of others while Offensive driving is a manner of driving that is proactive rather than reactive. It is a more dangerous driving method than defensive driving, as it involves taking control of the road and forcing vehicles around you to adapt. This program “Advanced Defensive and Offensive Driving Course (DODC)” is specifically meant for experienced drivers who already know how to drive. It is designed to sharpen their driving skills to prevent collisions, wriggle out dangerous situations and lessen the severity of collisions thus avoiding the tragic costs in human life, misery and financial expenses that motor accidents, kidnaping and terrorism acts can cause.

For whom:

This course is designed for experienced drivers, dispatch riders and their supervisors. It is perfectly suited for executive chauffeur and security drivers who are assigned the protective driving of organizational executives

Learning objectives:

At the end of this program, participants will be able to:

• identify the three basic ideas that form the foundation of defensive driving course and the ideology behind them;
• apply (ddc) collision prevention formular;
• recognize hazards and understand the defensive technique applicable and act in time;
• apply two-second rule;
• explain the split-second decision - use the four r's to prevent head-on collision;
• identify various prescription drugs and their potential side effects on driving;
• drive in emergency situations and manage their vehicles out of dangerous zones to safety;
• improve on their skills and level of confidence through practical guidance;
• increase their alertness through an anticipative offensive state of mind and respond in the correct instinctive manner to any hazardous driving situation; and
• drive offensively out of dangerous situations and zones.

Day 1: The concept of advanced defensive driving techniques

• Preventable collision
• The 30km/h collision exercise
• Art of overtaking, using the 4R's rules

o   Stopping Distance: How close is

too close

• The Two-second rule - The two-second plus

rule

• Driving in emergencies - Following distance

exercise

• The mystery crash - Developing defensive

driving attitude

Day 2: Advanced offensive driving techniques:

• Practical - Handbrake Turns 90°

-          Handbrake Turns 180°

-          180° Reverse Turns –

Accident Avoidance,

-          Emergency braking &

Swerving-to-avoid Obstacles

• High-Speed Vehicle Maneuvers,

Braking Techniques & Skid

Control

• 2 Point Escape Turn and Reversing

Techniques

Training Methodology

Lectures, discussions, exercises, case studies, audio-visual aids will be used to reinforce these teachings/learning methods.
