A Certified Medical Assistant, is also known as a Healthcare Assistant and a Clinical Assistant. It is an allied health profession that supports the work of physicians and other health professionals, usually in a clinic
setting. Medical Assistants perform routine tasks and procedures such as rooming and preparing patients, documenting patient medical history and current complaint or reason they are seeking medical attention. They measure patients’ vital signs, assist healthcare
provider with minor surgery preparations and more, mainly in outpatient or ambulatory care facilities, such as medical offices and clinics.
A Certified Medical Assistant is NOT a Physician’s Assistant which is a professional who practices medicine in collaboration or under indirect supervision of a physician.
