Introduction

As a machine gets older we can expect a certain amount of deterioration in performance and in the general condition of the machine. To identify incipient problems, we make use of the force induced vibrations caused by the fault. If we understand the failure mechanisms that are in place we can identify which parameters best indicate the deterioration of the machine.

The purpose of this workshop is help the non-expert understand the capabilities and limitations of vibration analysis and associated predictive maintenance technologies. By the end of this course the delegate should be able to make informed management decisions about maintenance requirements using vibration and other data as reference.

Condition monitoring techniques, including vibration analysis, are discussed in the course with a view to optimising the maintenance engineering effort while maximising production. Other techniques that will be addressed include infrared thermography, passive ultrasonic, tribology and performance monitoring.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is directed towards Supervisors, Team Leaders and Professionals in Maintenance, Engineering and Production. The workshop will also benefit anyone who wishes to update themselves on Condition Monitoring Technologies, judge the suitability of these technologies for their needs, and learn how to implement them for the benefit of their organisations.

Objectives

At the end of this workshop participants will have:

  • An understanding of a range of Condition Monitoring Technologies
  • Knowledge of the potential contribution of each these technologies to maintenance efficiency
  • Guidelines indicating how these technologies can interact with and support each other
  • The ability to read and understand vibration analysis charts, spectra and trends
A practical approach to developing an action plan to utilise these technologies in their own areas of responsibility, fitting them into the overall maintenance strategy, and measuring benefits
