PMI-ACP stands for PMI Agile Certified Practitioner, a certification offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI) to recognize the knowledge and skills of agile practitioners. The PMI-ACP certification covers many approaches to agile, such as Scrum, Kanban, Lean, XP, and TDD. It is a globally recognized credential that demonstrates your ability to work effectively on agile teams and deliver value to your customers12
To apply for the PMI-ACP certification, you need to meet the following requirements:
- A secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree or global equivalent)
- 21 contact hours of training in agile practices
- 12 months of general project experience within the last 5 years (a current PMP or PgMP will satisfy this requirement but is not required to apply for the PMI-ACP)
- 8 months of agile project experience within the last 3 years 12
The PMI-ACP exam consists of 120 multiple-choice questions that you have to complete in 3 hours. The exam tests your knowledge of agile principles, practices, tools, and techniques across different domains. You can take the exam online from your home or office, 24/7. The exam is available in five languages: English, Arabic, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish13
To maintain your PMI-ACP certification, you need to earn 30 professional development units (PDUs) in agile topics every three years. You can earn PDUs by taking courses, attending events, reading books, or volunteering for PMI or other organizations12
The PMI-ACP certification is a valuable credential that can help you advance your career, improve your performance, and increase your credibility as an agile professional.
